ABOUT
My name is Scott Reeves and I am based in Atlanta, GA, USA. I began my
photography by specializing in close-up flower photography of native
shaded woodland flowers due to my familiar association with the Georgia Native
Plant Society rescue program. From there I expanded into landscape and waterfall
photography of the western North Carolina region. I became and active
participant in the Nature Photographers Network and won 1st runner-up in the
flora category in 2007. Subsequently I became involved in event photography for
Real Atlanta Magazine, along with special invitations for other events such as
fashion show benefit for the American Cancer Society, the Latin American
Association, the Eating Disorders Information Network as well as some engagement
and wedding photography, plus other event photography such as concerts and
flamenco dancing.
Of particular note I would mention that there are vast differences between
techniques and equipment for, say, close-up flower photography, which translates
well into food photography, and event photography which has more similarities
with wedding photography. My skill sets include both areas.
Part of the real value I add to my work is in the development, or
post-processing of the images I capture. I am meticulous about the processing.
While I admire, for example, Cartier-Bresson who was very much about capturing
the moment and did not care much for post-processing, I also gravitate to Ansel
Adams' philosophy that the image is the score, and the post-processing is the
performance or the symphony. I feel it is my combination of both philosophies
that ultimately helps me create my work.
